evilbadger Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 First let me say hi and thanks for letting me join such a great group. I am new to Inventor and Autocad but I have the books and video tutorials and so far I am picking things up rather quickly at least I think I am anyway. I am in the process of drawing a mechanical works clock and the thing I can't seem to figure out is how to draw a string/cable to go around the various pulleys. I need to wind around a drum first and then go around the pulleys and come out the bottom and attach it to a weight to drive the gear train. I am using Inventor 2009 if somebody could please advise me on how to go about this it will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Tim Quote
Pablo Ferral Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 You could start by looking at 3D sketches. You can then use the 'SWEEP' tool to extrude a circle along the line. http://docs.autodesk.com/INVPRO/2010/ENU/Autodesk%20Inventor%202010%20Help/index.html?url=WS1a9193826455f5ff5f7e8f111d48518714403.htm,topicNumber=d0e206194 Quote
shift1313 Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 welcome aboard. Do you need this to actually work like a rope or just look like it? here is an old comp where user Lazer made a grand father clock with an older version of inventor. http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/showthread.php?t=5535 Quote
