Runnerguy Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 As you can tell from my info, I currently have ACADLT 2004. It's been pretty much exactly what I need and it's worked great but I'm thinking about upgrading either to LT 2009 or 2010 or the full blown 2009 or 2010. Anyway, as you probably surmised, I've got all these details, blocks, whole drawings, etc. done over the years. All of these details (residential), blocks, etc. I use over and over again and, as a starting point, I sometimes even copy and paste a whole elevation from another job if it's similar and just modify it. My question is, when I upgrade, is all that stuff still going to be available just like now without any potholes? I'm plannning on downloading the 30 day trial first and "tinker" with it (sorry for the tenchnical CAD term here) but I wanted to ask here first. I looked around for a similar thread, as this seems like a pretty routine query but didn't come up with anything. Thanks for any help! Doug Quote
Cad64 Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Yes, you will still be able to use all the drawings you created in 2004. Quote
ReMark Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 I don't think you have the option to upgrade to 2009. I believe it must be the current release if you are going through an authorized AutoDesk reseller. As far as AutoCAD is concerned even a drawing done in the first release can be opened in the latest release. The problem comes when you want to do the opposite. AutoCAD itself only allows the user to save back just so far. There are workarounds but I cannot vouch for their accuracy. Quote
Runnerguy Posted February 25, 2010 Author Posted February 25, 2010 Thanks Cad64 and Mark. Regarding 2009, I figured that was the case but every now and again I see it for sale on the secondary market by someone who's upgraded but I'll likely go with the latest anyway. And from looking at computers (I have a 32 bit system now) it looks like everything being sold now is 64 bit. Thanks again! Doug Quote
