import pdf to be traced

Hello,

I have a pdf but not a dwg file. Someone told me I can import the pdf into acad09-10 and trace it so its in dwg format. THis true?

Search in this forum or google for a pdf to dwg convertor. There are a lot of them. Some are free to try, others are totally free.

Usually this is only the first step, you still have to work on the drawing.

Check out this link http://www.aidecad.com/ for pdf to dxf converter. But the result you get from it will be fully double exploded drawing.

I suggest that you insert the pdf in the dwg & trace over. Its quite easy as the osnaps also work on the pdf.The image will show you how to attach a pdf to a dwg.

What is the *.pdf file, a drawing?

Most converters, pdf to cad, explode everything. Even, i.e.: E is now 4 segments, text is exploded.

A lot of cleanup is needed. Tracing the *.pdf is most often, a better idea.

Be sure to scale the *.pdf once inserted into your drawing before tracing!

The *.pdf is converted to a *.dxf file. Save as a *.dwg and you're off to the races.
