SFG13 Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 Hi, In class I learned how to take a 2D wireframe drawing for example like a drawing that looks like a plain wire coat hanger, and add rounded edges one piece at a time (like adding chunks of clay one section at a time). I remember it's supposed to click on one piece after another down the line to make the next rounded piece, and finally the entire object becomes solid and rounded. I forgot what tool do I use? Quote
SFG13 Posted March 3, 2010 Author Posted March 3, 2010 When I type in "fillet," it says, "Select first object or [undo/Polyline/Radius/Trim/Multiple]:" do I just select a part? Quote
ReMark Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 The fillet command will work on adjacent lines. If you use it with polylines it must be a continuous line. Fillet can also be used in 3D on solids. Are you creating a 2D object or a 3D solid? Quote
lpseifert Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 do I just select a part? I would suggest you select a line (2D) or an edge (3D), follow the prompts and see what happens. You can always Undo if you don't like the results. Quote
SFG13 Posted March 3, 2010 Author Posted March 3, 2010 Could be both, I think a 3D solid object, just like the one in the picture. Quote
ReMark Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 What picture? You think? Why are you unsure? In any case the command will work in 2D or 3D but you must pay close attention to the command line to see what AutoCAD is asking you for input. With 3D it may not be obvious to the first time user. Quote
Cad64 Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 When I type in "fillet," it says, "Select first object or [undo/Polyline/Radius/Trim/Multiple]:" do I just select a part? Hit F1 to learn how the Fillet command works. Quote
ReMark Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 "Do I just select a part?" Let's take a simple (2D) example: a 90 deg angle. We have two lines; one vertical and one horizontal. When prompted to Select first object... pick one of the two lines close to the intersection. When prompted to Select second object... pick the other line close to the intersection. Is that clear? Also, remember that Fillet defaults to 0.00 so you'll have to set the radius or it wont fillet anything. KC Quote
