Lany Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 Hi Folks, wonder if can help me with the following. We have been sent an Autocad file created in Autocad 4 and we have opened them in Autocad 7. When you open the file - the file will not display the pictures but in the left hand side of page which displays the print preview all the images show o.k. Also when you print the drawing - it prints everything else except the pictures. Does anyone know if this is likely to be a problem in the creation of the drawing or is there something on my side I can tweak to make this work. Hellllllllllllp! Thanks Folks. Quote
Cad64 Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 You're using Autocad 4 and Autocad 7? Or are you using Autocad 2004 and Autocad 2007? There is a huge difference. The reason you can't see the images when you open the drawing is because the person who sent you the file did not send the images. You need to contact this person and tell them to use the ETRANSMIT command which will put the drawing file and all included images, xrefs, etc. into a zip file which he can then send to you. Quote
Lany Posted March 23, 2010 Author Posted March 23, 2010 Hi Cad64 The original File was created by our Design folks who created the file in Autocad 2004 - we are working in Autocad 2007 which is the version we have used to try and open the file. Along with the drawing we have received we have got an additional file which has all the pictures in it but I cannot understand why when you open the drawing you can see the pictures in the drawing preview window but then not on the actual drawing or when you print. Do you still feel this is an originator problem? Thanks for your help. Quote
ReMark Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 Did you put the image files in the same folder as the drawing files? Quote
Cad64 Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 The preview is just a snapshot of the last saved state. It is not representative of what you will actually see when you open the drawing. Place the images into the same folder as the .dwg and then Autocad should be able to find them when you open the drawing. Quote
Lany Posted March 23, 2010 Author Posted March 23, 2010 Yayyyyy folks - the drag and drop into the images file worked. Thanks so much all for your help and responses. Lany Quote
