Is command line entry possible for drawing lines etc in Max?

Sort of, but not really.

If you draw a spline, you can grab hold of a vertex and then type a number into the X,Y,Z Coordinate boxes at the bottom of the screen, and the line will length or shorten accordingly. But I think that's about as close to command line entry as you're going to get. Max just really isn't a drawing/drafting type of program.

You might check around and see if anyone's written a Maxscript for this type of functionality. If you haven't been to http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max before, this is a perfect opportunity to check it out.

Ok cheers mate, will check that website out, I tend to use the grid or else I'll draw a plane to the right dims and trace over it, however that's far from ideal.
