MikeP Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 There is something wrong with my vid card settings. As you can see in my cabinets below, you should not be able to see the lines showing through the faces. when I turn off edges, It looks fine. But I need to have edges on to see things properly. Im using 09, on a Xp computer. These are 3d solids generated by a 3rd party software (microvellum) The issue is not from microvellum, so please do not suggest anything related to that. Its is simply having trouble displaying 3d edges and faces. Quote
MikeP Posted March 24, 2010 Author Posted March 24, 2010 Maybe it is graphics card related? im guessing, but it wasnt always this bad. there has to be some settings that can fix this. Quote
MikeP Posted March 24, 2010 Author Posted March 24, 2010 i was told that 09 has always had edge hiding issue in 3d, is this true? Quote
kencaz Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 Did you check your edge settings are not set to always on top "yes" This would show the lines behind your solid. KC Quote

ReMark Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 You say "when I turn off edges...". What command are you referring to? Quote

MikeScott Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 I've had that effect when something like a shelf solid actually passed the surface of the side of the cabinet by a ridiculously small amount.. thereby being within that solid, and confusing the issue. On the shelves though, you're seeing a line representing the underside edge of the shelf.. that shouldn't happen at all. Or could there actually be a transparency issue (I don't know if 2009 even allows transparency in a shaded view). Also, is it normal for edge outlines to be different from the face colors like that? My edges match the color of the faces on solids, unless I've mapped a material onto them. Quote
