taify Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 Hi, I am designing a cupboard with shelving to take books of various sizes - I cannot figure out the best way to constrain BOOKS on SHELVES - idea is layout planing and check which size and quantity fits where!! I used 'translational' constraint to constrain book with three sides of the shleve - ideally i want to show a book titled with the shelf divider so i can get the angles right which would help me with knowing what can go where and hence design the shelves around it! What is the optimum approach for this kind of thing - i m using inventor 9 Thanks Quote
ReMark Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 Seems like overkill to me to design a bookcase using Inventor and constrain the books. Is every book the same thickness? Quote
kencaz Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 Try an angle constraint. Pick your angle as such: KC Quote

On the contrary Remark, Inventor is very suited for this... Autocad can do it quite well also in 3D but moving the books around would be more involved. KC Quote
