bjenk8100 Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 Hello, Where can you go to delete blocks. When I create a block where does it save to? FOr instance, when I go to block tab and then edit a list pops up with all my blocks. Where are those files. ALso, where would you save blocks to to add to those files. I use acad10 thanks Quote
BWells Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 To my knowledge they are part of the dwg file. to have pre-set block in a dwg you would have to set them up in the template file (dwt). if it's any more that a few i would seriously look into populating your tool palette instead. you'll be able to organize them much better that way. Dana W Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 Blocks "Save" as part of your drawing. If they were created in that particular drawing you are working with, they do not live anywhere else. To get unused blocks out of a particular drawing use the Purge command. If you want to keep them for future use, do as BWells suggests and put them somewhere else before you purge. If you didn't create the block, it is probably in some other drawing or pallete. Quote
bjenk8100 Posted April 7, 2010 Author Posted April 7, 2010 i have a dwg file which is totally for common shapes that I use a lot. I put them in there and make them blocks. However, If i delete one of them and then go edit another one the drop down list pops up to pick which one to edit and its still in there. I figured there must be another way to delete them. Quote
bonehead411 Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 Doesn't sound like your deleting the block definition itself, just an instance of the block within the drawing. Have you used the purge command as Dana W suggests? Quote

bonehead411 Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 I'm aware of that Dana, but is our OP? So, to clarify; delete all instances of the block which can be seen within the drawing, then, use the purge (PU) command to select and remove the block definition. After these steps the block should not appear in the block list. Quote
