Rotated UCS leads to rotated Reference Files

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I'm currently working on a set of plans and have adjusted my UCS so as to then type 'plan' and rotate my view of the drawing so I'm aligned to the grid, which is at an angle. This is all fine when drawing, however, I've now referenced the file to a duplicate and expected it to come in perfectly on top, but instead it rotates reference the same angle again as my initial UCS rotation.

I've set both UCS systems in the two files back to 'World' and they then overlay perfectly. What I'm confused about is that if i need to set a new UCS so that I can draw in parallel with my building and rotate the plan view, how can I make referencing work.

Yea, that does work perfectly. However, my question was kind of more based on the premise of surely there's a quicker way than having to reset your UCS every time you wish to insert a reference?

I'm not a big fan, but a lot a firms use DVIEW TWist to rotate drawings and keep WCS coordinates. You may want to look into it. -David
