CAnnondale
Hi, I have a solid drawing created from Inventor and then was converted in AutoCAD dwg, I then open it on 3DSMax. Now, I do want to apply material to render the object, but it seems to be in 1 Solid entity. How do I convert it into multiple solid bodies? Is there an easy way to do it, or do I have to edit it in AutoCAD in order to have multiple layers.
Cad64
Is the model one solid object in Autocad or is it separated into individual objects? If it's divided up into individual objects in Autocad, then just set your Max Import options to "Derive Autocad Primitives by" Entity. Or, if each object is on it's own layer, you can set it to Derive by Layer or if each object is a different color you can set it to Derive by Color. It just depends on how your CAD file is set up.
