Drawing a curve 217' long

I am re-involving myself in autoCAD after a 10 year hiatus. I am trying to draw a road/parking area. The road curves. I need the road to be 217' long. How can I do this? What tools do i use? Everything I have tried isn't working.

What other curve information do you have to work with other than the length? Do you know the radius of the curve?

I pulled out my old surveying book and looked up laying out horizontal curves. Of course most of the examples given have information regarding radius, tangent distance, curve length (which you know) and long chord length as well as the delta (angle of curve). The more info you have the better although you can always calculate for a missing parameter if you have the other ones.

This road your laying out doesn't require a compound or reverse curve does it?

They are just sketches so I am to make then "look" good. No survey was done, just field measurmements with a 100' tape. Distances are approximate. This will be for putting gravel down over existing parking lots that need resurfacing. I have included the sketches to see what I am trying to draw up.

I looked at your sketch and there isn't a whole lot of information on the curve. It seems like you can pretty much design what you want since there also doesn't seem to be much in the way of contraints shown either. Is this a large, empty tract of land?

Existing parking lots? Why not just go on Google Earth, find the location, copy the satellite image and trace over it? It's not like it has to be to scale right?

Too bad you didn't get the chord distance for the curve.

Well, I just did it, to see if I could. But I lost the raster from the OLE when I copied my results to another drawing. The copied image is now white in model space, even plotted to a pdf.
