Parametrics, not showing parameters manager

In my ACAD Architecture 2010 (UK metric) version clicking 'parameters manager' button changes its colour but no parameters box appears. Also other parameter buttons seem to have no effect.

However using ACAD Architecture 2010 (US metric) version all seems to work ok.

 

I see there is a varible PARAMETERSSTATUS held in the registry but it is read only. Can this be the problem and where do I find it in the registry to change it?

 

Can anyone help please?:?
