KATIE0801 Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 Hi I have only been using CAD for a little while so this may be a simple question. I have created a rectangle in a new layer (that i have named 'Hatching') and I have tried to fill it with a pattern but no matter what options i select, I get the same result of a solid dark green coloured rectangle (this is the colour i have chosen for the layer) but NO pattern. Also, when i hover over the space with the cross hairs it sometimes changes to a wierd black and white stripy rectangle but still not the pattern I am trying to achieve. Any help will be appreciated. stevsmith Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 You have to set the scale of the hatch. When in the hatch menu select the following and change it to a higher number. Quote
f700es Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 Have you tried adjusting your hatch scale? Sounds like it is set to 1.00. Double-click on the hatch and in the Scale box try a few different settings. Good luck EDIT: Oh, Steve beat me to it! Quote
KATIE0801 Posted April 21, 2010 Author Posted April 21, 2010 I can't believe I have spent all morning on this and you have answered my question in 1 minute! Thanks so much. About the colour and colour in general I guess - the rectangle has stayed dark green (I mean the lines of the pattern have which is fine) - I have not finished a complete drawing yet - at what stage, will I start to see the real colours and not the layer colours? I am assuming the lines of this pattern will eventually be black? How can I change the colour of the background of this hatched area as well as keeping the hatching? Or furthermore, change the colour of the hatching so I end up with white diamond hatching on a red background? Katie Quote
stevsmith Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 The hatching colour can be assigned to your layer colour. Open your layer manager and create a layer called "hatch" then change the standard colour to red (or whatever) Close the layer manager and select "hatch" as your current layer. Draw your rectangle, hatch the box an voila. A hatch on your current layer. Simples Quote
stevsmith Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 I may have misread your last post there. You want to have the background of the box as red with your hatch as a white? Is this my understanding of your question? Quote
KATIE0801 Posted April 21, 2010 Author Posted April 21, 2010 Yes that is what I am looking to do ... Quote
eldin Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 Put another hatch in the rectangle, a SOLID hatch, with the color red. note: If the solid hatch is in front of the diamond hatch: select the solid hatch and type: 'draworder' 'back' Quote
stevsmith Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 Hatch the rectangle with a solid hatch first, then do another hatch with ansi31. change the colour of the solid to red and the ansi31 to black. (when you print it will be white) You may have to use draw order to move the solid hatch behind Quote
eldin Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 BTW, in Acad 2011 there is a new feature: Any hatch pattern can be selected with a background color Quote
eldin Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 Jup, just thought I'd say it anyway as i like the feature Quote
JDaniels Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 How do you do a SOLID Hatch? ***Sorry, found it (It's on the Pattern drop down menu in the Hatch dialogue box). Spent half an hour looking for it, and then as soon as I ask the question I get a moment of inspiration. Damn this forum's good!*** Quote
