automated file name/save/open

Hi,

I'm a total novice at programming, but I'm in a situation where necessity is forcing me to do something...

I work at a company that is still using R14, and we need a way to automate the opening/saving/and naming of files.

I would like to have an add in to acad that will give me a window with options of number/rev and automatically open or save to the default directory. This will force the user to save every file with the same naming convention in the same place.

The next step would be to have this configure a title block with the file name, but I'll start with the naming/saving first.

I would think this would be a common problem, are there any examples of code I can use or modify for this?

I'm not even sure if I'm supposed to be looking at lisp or VB...
