Detach command not working

I am currently using ACAD 2007 full version.

I have copied over a set of plans and am re-exrefing them in. I am finding that some plans are hanging at about 93% on the regen or autosave. I have gone in and purged, as well as detached any images/drawings. however, on one plan, it will not detach 3 referenced images that are no longer part of the set. It is the base plan and there are no other x-ref's coming in.... any suggestions?
