I have 12 plates on top of a arched solid.I have cut one plate at the end.How do i cut the 12 plates without cutting into the arched solid..Cheers

If you look closely where your fin meets the cylinder I don't think that is what you are really after.

 

Sketch2 is waaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy too complicated - pattern features rather than sketched (and use = constraints rather than dimensions for multiples of dimensions.

 

Work planes 1 & 2 are not needed.

 

I think a Revolved cut is what you are after but I don't have time to remake your part from scratch right now. I will try to post a more efficient example when I get a chance.

Thanks dshowalt.Yes that made the cut neatly without cutting into the cylinder except for the Fin at the end which still cuts into the cylinder.How do i make a cut on all the fins without cutting into the cylinder.Cheers Pete
