Hi,
I am thinking of getting a Quadro4 900 xgl card for an 'entry level' graphics system.
How does this 'top of the line 3 yrs ago' compare to current generation of Parhelia P650, or Quadro fx 330 ?
The rest of my system will probably be:
Opteron 165 (Dual core, 2x1.8Ghz, 2x1024kB cache)
2x1GB ram
Mobo > depends on Graphics card
Harddrive - Raptor 74MB 10K SATA
I'm most confused about the graphics card to choose - and specifically the choices between Quadro 4 900 / Parhelia P650 / Quadro fx 330 ?
Thanks in advance for your answers

Hi baseIslam, welcome to the forum :)
1st question - why use a 3 year old AGP card with a dual-core opteron system? Why not buy a newer mobo that can handle a PCIe graphics card. They are much faster that any AGP card. Just my opinion. Plan for the future on your new system not for older parts.
What apps are you going to run? If just Acad then a Geforce FX PCIe 6600 or 6800 will be just fine. Only get a workstation card if you are going to be doing any BIG rendering. I've used a Quadro PCIe FX1300 on acad and could not tell any difference between my GF FX 5700 Ultra to be quite honest. It rendered faster in Max and such but other than that not much difference. Hope this helps.

That's why I cant go for more than the Quadro4 900XGL.
I shouldve asked: what's the best card for AutoCad that $150 can buy :)
I've just read up that you can mod a radeon x700 into a FireGL 5000. I might go for that option instead....
