:?: Hi All,
I'm a complete newbie to this forum, so apologies if this subject has been covered.
Using AutoCAD R14, I've recently tried to transfer/copy a complete view (or group of objects) from one 2D drawing to another. Transfer wholly unsuccessful. Please advise correct procedure (downloaded tutorial only covers copying within same drg).

Previous CAD experience:-
0: T-square + set squares (Tech), drawing boards + pantographs up to ambidextrous Japanese versions (various DO's),
1: IBM CADAM v19 - 21.1,
2: Matra Datavision Euclid 2D,
3: IBM Catia, solid modelling with all bells & whistles.

Few ways to do this.
1. You can wblock out the items to a seperate file and then just insert that file into the other drawing.
2. You can open r14 twice (have 2 sessions running at one time) highlight the items from the original drawing and go to Edit - Copy (Ctrl-C) and then click in your new drawing and Edit - Paste (Ctrl-V).

I am sure a few other ways will come from others members as well. Try them all and see which ones work best for your situation. Good luck.

Pull down the INSERT menu then find the file you wish to insert.

:? Many thanks for this input. I suspect that it will be necessary to adopt the heuristic approach (otherwise "trial & error"), checking out your suggestions.
