I am new to AutoCAD, and I have no idea how to set up the plan so that it is metric, at a scale 1:100, and using millimeters? Could you please help me out, or post a blank .dwg with all the correct settings. Thankyou very much in advance!

Open a new drawing click on metric & say ok.

Start drawing whatever you want to in full scale.

You only need to set up the scale while plotting in the plot dialog box.

Thankyou very much for your reply.

oh ok then. So if I wanted to measure in millimetres instead of whatever it is measuring in what would I do? And if I wanted it to print at a scale of 1:100, how would I go about that?

I think the easyest way to draw in scale is this:

You draw in model space whatewer you want, in scale 1:1.

Then you go to layout, and make a viewport. ( command : "mv" )

You can match the size of a viewport to size of a paper you are printing on.

When your viewport is done, you click on it, go to properies and under "Misc" section, you set "Custom scale" to 1 if you want the printout to be in scale 1:1, 10 if you want scale 1:10 and so on...
