Hello, I am using autocad 2005 and I've found that even when using object snaps when drawing the initial figure, I can zoom way in and the lines are actually not connected. So when I need to pedit, join, close, it closes those in unfavorable ways. What's the deal? I thought that is what object snaps were for. I've done this in two different drawings and it is very annoying when I am ready to extrude but can't because they are not connecting. Thanks for any help!!

Are your coordinates extremely large (like over 1,000,000)? AutoCAD falls flat on its face in this situation when snapping, offsetting, etc. Only solution may be move objects closer to origin (0,0) do your work, move back when done.
If not this then I don't know, you're doing the right thing usinn snaps.

Actually no, coordinates are quite small. Just for mechanical parts. I was using tangent snaps connecting lines to circles, then trimming of excess inner circle.

You might try the FILLET command with a radius of 0 to clean up (close) intersections with gaps or overlaps. Also PEDIT with a fuzz factor can find/close those not-quite matching endpoints.

thanks so much, I had no idea what fuzzfactor was all about..

Oh Boy have I had the same problem!!!!!
I keep Osnaps on (without nearest) and sometimes it doesn't quite hit it, Again Why?
I've noticed this when trying to hatch, (maybe 2 years since I've been able to pick an interior point :( )
I'm not too sure about "fuzzfactor", but I have used a large factor to help join plines. If the gap is ~.01 I'll use a factor of 10 or something silly. For joining plines I've had better luck with the express tool>Poly Join and third there is lsp called glue that works well (if you are wanting to join them all) .
Good question I've been wanting to ask, glad you did. Still Why?
Seems with 05 the endpoint will not snap the end of a leader. The only way I've found is to click on it, hover over till a snap shows (usually mid) then hit tab till I get the one I want

You mentioned that you don't use nearest. Is there a reason why? Nearest should also snap to the nearest point on a line, is that right. I'm asking because this is another snap that I can't get to actually connect. Anyway thanks for all the tips!
