mserediak Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 I am currently running AutoCAD 2006. What I need help doing is editing a drawing reference (cross reference). I am working on a very large AutoCAD drawing (a big spreadsheet called a shutdown key), but there are over 50 small drawings that created from the big drawing. These small drawings reference the large drawing providing a readable print out. I am not 100% sure how this is done, but if I go to the Xref Manager (found under the insert menu), I can see that there is a Xref called "Xrefsdkey" that is found at the large drawing. When I go to the large drawing there are no cross references listed in the Xref Manager. My problem is that one of the small drawings is corrupted, and I need to replace it. How I want to do this is to simply copy an existing working drawing and edit the information that points to the area of the big drawing. Anyone have any idea how to change this reference so that I can have the correct information appear? Quote
Cad64 Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Your question is confusing. Are all of the drawings xrefs? Are they nested under the Xrefsdkey xref? Have you tried asking one of your co-workers to explain the drawing set up to you? Quote
mserediak Posted May 17, 2010 Author Posted May 17, 2010 Your question is confusing. Are all of the drawings xrefs? Are they nested under the Xrefsdkey xref? Let me see if I can explain it a little better, there is a drawing that is a big (very large, 600 row x 600 column spreadsheet) in AutoCAD format. To print this big drawing, the areas of the drawing are split up into small drawings that reference the large spreadsheet. These small drawings have a reference window that take a snapshot of an area of the spreadsheet. My problem is that I don't know how to edit this reference as one of the drawings is corrupted. What I plan to do, is copy an existing (working) drawing and change the reference so that it points to the area of the spreadsheet to display the right information. Have you tried asking one of your co-workers to explain the drawing set up to you? I'm posting here because no one knows how to edit this information. Quote

Did it fix it? Yes, great, No,... Open one of the drawings next to the area of the problem drawing. Saveas that drawing to the name of the problem drawing, overwriting the old problem file. Now adjust the 'window' to show the area you wish for this drawing. They either used xclip or they used a viewport in PS. If an xclip then start the xclip command, delete, then redefine the clip boundary. If a viewport simply double click inside the window and pan to the area needed, pick Model button on bottom of drawing window. Quote
