visual basic snapping

Hi all, sorry if this doesnt completely make sense but im not doing the visual basic myself - just putting this here for someone in another office of ours. We are having trouble getting visual basic macros to snap onto lines from another xref. IE we open "plan2.dwg" and in that we xref in a file called "Plan1.dwg" we then run the macro, and it asks us where we want text placed. We then want to be able to snap onto a line in "Plan1.dwg" and the text goes into that position, but it is not working. I would like the snaps that i currently have turned on to stay on, but for some reason the macro wont snap onto the xref. Is there a simple way to explain how we could do this?

thanks
