created blocks do not show up in insert block

When I create a new block, I make sure that they can be tested by verifing that the blocks are listed in the blocks insertion window.

When I go to insert them, the blocks do not show up in the drop down window. Where are default blocks normally stored at? I suspect the path is messed up and needs to be corrected. Is the path under tools > options > files ? I did not see a blocks path there.

I think that blocks are stored in the drawing itself.

I assume you're trying to create a library of blocks to use on different drawings, or for different drafters to use. You probably don't want to put them in your templates, because this will increase file sizes and otherwise be a bad idea.

What I would do is use WBLOCK to save each block as its own DWG file, and drop them all in the same directory (either local on the PC or on a network drive). Now, you can create a tool pallet with all of your blocks.

Blocks created within a drawing remain as part of the drawing unless you WBlock them out to your hard drive. In which case the blocks (they are drawing files) are saved in the folder(s) with the rest of your drawings.

being pedantic they remain part of the drawing if you WBLOCK them. :wink:
