Gina - maybe you need to learn a little more about AutoCAD before you atempt to draw a complex 3D object. The question you ask is very difficult for anyone to answer because we do not know your current level of skill. Also, it would take a long time to prepare a tutorial sepecially for you to draw a VW Beetle only to find that what you really wanted was a BMW something or other. Why not make a start and let us know when you get stuck. In the meantime, have a look at some of the tutorials at www.CADTutor.net and others that you will see recommended on this forum. Perhaps also get hold of a good manual and work through that.

I know, I know, you need a car like yesterday! AutoCAD just can't be mastered in a few hours or even a few days - lifes like that :)

You'll find other on-line resources and book recommendations here:

Also keep in mind "why draw it if someone else has done it before?"
check in the model/block section of this website for links to websites where you can download free models and blocks. It will save you heaps of time.

id love to just browse for cars...but i have this image stuck in my head...and need to put it in 3d.

im not that bad in cad, i can honestly say im just about intermediate, i dont use cad for 3d, i use arch. desktop 3.3, mainly beacuse i design buildings and rooms in school.

i'll try the tutorial...if it doesn't go...i think im gonna hire someone to do it! lol 8)

You could draw an orthographic - plan, elevation, end elevation - that would be a start. Then try 3D modelling it. I would say mainly surfaces. A car is symetrical so it may not be too hard.

Good luck

If you have pictures of the car from front and side you may place them (at the same scale) in the drawing and follow the outline with a polyline. It is a way to start modeling. I never did this in AutoCAD but it works in 3D Studio.
To make your life easy choose a different color for the polyline (not colors appearing in the image). You may draw not just the outlines but other major elements visible in the pictures. After the 2D is ready it may come the nice part in 3D.
We are waiting your results.
