Set dialog preferences automatically in AutoCAD action macro

Is it possible to set dialog box preferences/ selections automatically, as part of an action macro??

I want to be able to achieve the following, using one macro:

1) Run quick select to define a selection set

2) Set "Block Reference" as the object type

3) Set "name" as the property

4) Set "Wildcard Match" as the operator

5) Set the wildcard match value as "*38*

6) Execute the selection

7) Change colour of selected objects to Yellow

8) Change level of selected objects to "PID"

I have used the action recorder to record these actions, but it doesn't record the Quick Select Dialog box preferences that I specified.

Would truly appreciate some advice on how dialog box preferences could be incorporated into my action macro.

Thanks,

Look at the on-line help on selection set filters in AutoLISP. The qselect command probably uses this technique internally.
