is $2500aus a realistic budget for a home graphics work station?

Don't really know if i need to much more explaining. I want to get more involved in 3d graphics as my job asked me to do some work on Max and got hooked. So I am chasing a Home Computer now, my budget is about $2500AUS, is this a realistic price to run cad / 3ds max / adobe stuff and so on or am I just wasting my money..? what sort of performance would I get out of that budget?

Anyway, any advice on the budget would be nice and if you can be bothered looking at the link, advice on that would be appreciated also.
