carmz2010 Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 hey guys sorry this might seem really simple but it gets me everytime! i try to copy and paste over lines from one drawing to another. we have no xref on the drawings that i want to copy and paste from. its basically all lines! so everytime i copy lines and go into another drawing to paste it, Autocad freezes!. the drawings are 4.3 and 3.4mb. would this have anything to do with it? also ive freezed off layers and it still does this! hope i made sense:oops: Quote
Tankman Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Welcome to the forums carmz2010! Do visit often. The drawings, compared to my plumbing stuff certainly seem rather large. Is your PC spec'd for AutoCAD '04? Perhaps a memory boost might help. Memory is one of the best upgrades for a PC running AutoCAD. Is your video card suited for whatever you're doing? Where are you posting from? Just curious. Quote
carmz2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Author Posted July 7, 2010 thanks! im using 08 and yeah we just got upgraded to new computers! so i got 8gb ram its a 64 bit operating system so maybe that has something to do with it? and i dont know about video cards or how to look that up im in Sydney Quote
edwinprakoso Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 What happen if you insert is as a block? If you need to filter some object before inserting it, try to WBLOCK it and then insert it. Quote
carmz2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Author Posted July 7, 2010 edwinprakoso im fairly new to autocad! well ive only been working in this engineering firm for about 8 months now. i dont know what you mean by filtering the object? ive never heard of WBLOCK but i tried it and my autocad froze. i typed in WBLOCK selected the lines, picked a path for it, then i went in the other drawing, typed "I" found my block and it froze. i dont know maybe the file is corrupt or something? its ok i dont think anything will work, im just redrawing it at the moment. thankyour for your time and effort it is much appreciated Quote
