View Full Version : cross sections from a 3-d model
I was hoping someone might be able to tell me how I could generate a cross sectional view of a 3-d model I created. I want to take a slice of a certain part and be able to view it and plot it. Thank you.

Just type at the command prompt SLICE and follow the instructions.

Look up in the help file, SOLDVIEW and SOLDRAW.
It explains the way of setting up viewports in layout tab to extract views of your 3d model, it also give an option to create a section view.

I appreciate the responces I recieved, I just have one more question, I need a sectional view of a structure, not a particular object, so I was wondering if the SOLVIEW and SOLDRAW would still work. If not would I be able to encase my structure in a box and then use SOLVIEW and SOLDRAW. Thank you once again, I appreciate your time and assistance.

Solview can handle all the 3d objects from a drawing. Just pisk two points to define a section plane. This will slice all the solids intersected by this plane.
