Chgocab Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 I am using LT 2009 and am having problems modifying dimension text height or format. When I make changes to either of these in the Dimension Style Manager (using the modify window), dimensions already on the drawing do not change, only dimensions entered after I make the change. When I open a drawing emailed to me by a Designer, these modifications work fine. Thanks for any light you can shed on this for me. Quote
RobDraw Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 You need to use "Dimension Update" on previously inserted dimensions. Quote
Chgocab Posted August 13, 2010 Author Posted August 13, 2010 Rob, Where do I find or enter "Dimension Update" ? Thanks, Kurt Quote
RobDraw Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 It is in the same place as your other dimension commands. In the ribbon go to the Annotate tab and it's in the Dimensions section. If you are using classic menus, then it is in the dimension drop down menu. Quote
Chgocab Posted August 13, 2010 Author Posted August 13, 2010 That worked. Thanks! I have a related question, if you want to consider it. As I mentioned at the beginning of this thread, If i open a drawing someone else has emailed to me, I can modify dimensions in the dimension style manager by clicking modify, making the change, and simply closing it. This changes all the existing dimensions in the drawing without having to use the dimension update and selecting objects. I think it may be because emailed drawings open in the drawing 1 template, while we draw in a drawing we have made modifications to and then saved. We have not saved this as a new template, however, but only as a drawing which we have named. I don't know if we made a change in the template that is causing this malfunction, or if it is due to the fact that we didn't actually save it as a new drawing template. Any thoughts? Kurt Quote
RobDraw Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Nope. It's been a while since I've done much work with dimensions. I'm sure someone else will be along with a thought or two. Quote
