This forum will be closed shortly before 10pm GMT on Friday (16th Dec). It will be closed over the weekend and should open again on Monday morning.

The closure is required so that I can move the CADTutor site to a Virtual Private Server (VPS). Recently, the site has become very busy and has outgrown a standard shared hosting service. In order to keep everything running nice and fast, I need to move to the next level in hosting.

Fingers crossed, we'll be back on Monday morning on our very own shiny new VPS.

We are up-to-date with phpBB and I am currently reviewing my options for the future of the forum. IPB and vBulletin are both in the running but I have yet to do any serious thinking on the matter. Then again we may migrate to phpBB 3 if it arrives in the next few months.

If you have any experience of other boards and would like to share it, I'd be interested to hear.

if you would like i can set up an temp admin account in one of my forums i run with vbulletin and you can take a look around the admincp and moderation tools.

That would be useful. I run a IPB forum so I'm familiar with that but I've never seen inside of vBulletin.

Well, the server move went very well - thanks to my friends at Clook.

The DNS changes were made much faster than I expected so we're back online within 24 hours.

As usual with these moves, I'd like to hear of any problems you may be experiencing as soon as possible.
