importing file from autocad to inventor

What do you have to save the file type as inorder to do this...the 2d drawing is to advanced for me to do in inventor...so i did it in autocad and am now trying to import it so that i can extrude it...

Sorry my friend but Inventor wont convert your Autocad 2d sketch to a 3d model in Inventor.

In Inventor you must gain crontrol of your sketch, right from the start.
Inventor sketches are all about control,
you have to fix and constrain your sketch in order to get this control over your sketch, this making updates to your 3d model very quick and easy if you sketch in the right way.
