so yeah i knew i was gonna have trouble with it because inventor's plane/axes system is nothing like the SW system which im used to. so apparently i can only offset planes on this thing, i cant angle them???
so i have to do an angular constraint on my parts.
well im trying to do a support structure with two arms. the angle of the arms from the side view is 30*. the angle of the arms towards the outsides (top view) is 20* from the C/L or 40* total.
the drawing:

what i have done so far in 3D:

ELP!! every time i make a new constraint, no matter where i select the arm from, it just twists it all out of whack. idk what to do anymore short of rotating it by eyeball........... :reallymad: [/list]

Bloodwig are you trying to build the arms last in a ASSEMBLY??? slow way to it in inventor if thats the case.?
((You dont have to use angluar constraint to get the results you want and YES in inventor you can constrain to angles by using the angle constrain tab in constraints dia box.
Or in a sketch you can rotate a plane on a axis at any angle to give you an offset plane at any angle you want.))
Back to your problem . If this is the case, then I would make things simple for yourself and model your 2d drawing as a 3d sub assembly part then constrain it into place using the that bracket (the 1 with the holes in)
5 parts make your one assembly(brackset&legs) them create a new assembly make the GOLD L bracket then make a new PROJECT.
PLACE COMPONENT > brackets&Legs > then again PLACE COMPONENT> gold bracket
Then constrain the brackets&Legs to the gold L bracket using a mate constrain fix it where you want it.

Bloodwig are you trying to build the arms last in a ASSEMBLY??? slow way to it in inventor if thats the case.?well that assembly is the bracket assembly. that wall i threw back there is just so i can have something to base my sketch off of. I was planning it on suppressing it or disabling it later.
((You dont have to use angluar constraint to get the results you want and YES in inventor you can constrain to angles by using the angle constrain tab in constraints dia box. i hate that angle constrain box. i cant get it to work
Or in a sketch you can rotate a plane on a axis at any angle to give you an offset plane at any angle you want.))i am seeing this now.
5 parts make your one assembly(brackset&legs) them create a new assembly make the GOLD L bracket then make a new PROJECT.yeah sorry i shoulda said before but the gold L bracket is a wall... sorry
a person in another forum actually modeled the thing for me. its a skeletally driven assembly.

clad your getting there, i hope,
and i only called it gold bracket to make it simple so u knew what i was talking about as it could be anything.
like i said i hope you are getting the results you want. :)

What do u mean by the angle constraint box dont work?
click angle constraint box the select the left hand side of the bracket the the L/H side side of the support leg (brings them togethere on the same plane) then set an angle of about 10 degree should to it. then mate constrain the leg into place from the edge.
