takeoff from P&ID

Hi,

I have a piping P&ID's that can be opened in autocad,

is there a way to make a takeoff for all the materials (pipes, fitings, ...) from autocad automatically in order to facilitate the manual procedure?

What program were these P&IDs created in? AutoCAD P&ID by any chance?

I have always undersood P&ID to be expressed presented in diagamatic format (D + diagram), then of course I have been away from piping for some time and realize that things have changed. Still, a diagram remains a diagram to me (understood as diagramatic and therefore not to scale, and therefore it is not possible to extract quantities.

So with respect and without appearing to be facetious, if this is not the case, I really would be interested in being enlightened.
