I got a problem with a guy here that keeps loosing his search paths that are on the network and i dont know why he keeps loosing them i thought that maby it could be from the server getting restarted because of probs sometimes when hes up and running, but im not sure. Can anyone tell me if this could be why that happens or if their is another reason it could happen. How can i stop this from happening. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help im getting tired of fixing it all the time.

It will happen if he's getting disconnected from the server

you don't mention which version of Acad this is happening with... could be lots of reasons... though I doubt it's to do with the server rebooting

at the very least I would teach him how to use profiles and export one for safety. Next time it happens all he has to do is import it and he doesn't need to bother you again.

what version are you running?

On R14 if a search path couldn't be found on start up OR if it was lost during a session it was deleted from your profile  and wouldn't be there next day when the server was found. That's why I'm in the habbit of creating a profile :D (no "smug" smiley)

On R2002 (possibly 2000) onwards there are 2 paths on the options page. The first is what you want, the 2nd what the computer could find. Much more stable!

That's what we found, your problem may still be different.

???
I don't lose my support paths if the server is disconnected or any other drive for that matter

you lucky *******! Used to happen to us all the time. Certainly on R14. Unstable server and R14 was not a happy combination.

Thanks all, I think I got it fixed. What i did was created a profile for him and exported it out to the file with all the other standard profiles then changed the profile to the one i created in the target. Hope it works. I was thinking of writing a lisp to add them for me if he ever lost them again, but hopefull this profile will fix that for me. Thanks again all. :D

:glare: Guess i got to get back to the real work now

Profile isnt working :( , it loads his profile but hes still loosing the support file search paths that are on the net work. It happens after about 3 or 4 shutdowns, then when he opens adt again no more paths. What can i do to fix this, its becoming real bothersome, and ive showed him how to put them back in but he still tells me and askes me fix it when it happens. I want to fix it once and for all so i dont have to mess with it anymore :x someone please help
