View Full Version : Polyline - joining arcs and lines with widths

At my job, I sometimes have to join lines and nontangential arc polyline segments together and give them a width. My problem is that after the segments are joined, the vertex is not a smooth transition. That is, the lines come to an angular point and the arcs meet in the middle of this angle. I am looking for a way to get a smooth transition between them without adding a radiused fillet. Can anyone help me? Is there a setting for polylines to do this?

After a bit of experimentation I've come to the conclusion that AutoCAD is just not very good at creating mitred joints at vertexes that join straight line and arc segments, as this image shows.

Unless anyone can come up with a magic variable to improve this. :(

Cadtutor is right, I have never been able to overcome this shortcoming of AutoCAD. -David

I found a way to do it about five years ago, but have forgotten it since then. (my memory isn't what it used to be)
