screen freezes for two minutes when trying to open drawing

on autocad 2005 when i initial open the autocad and try to open one of my old drawings the screen says 0% on bottom and freezes for 2 minutes before opening. once open i can then flip thru my old drawings quickly without freezing. whats up??...thanks!!

The 2 things that have slowed down our machines at various releases of AutoCAD have been -

that start up screen where your machine accesses the internet and lists the last 5000 drawings it openned. Changing AutoCAD to a traditional start up screen (or none at all) speeded things up there

I did load a VBA routine at startu. VBA took a long time to initialise. Making it an on demand routine has moved the delay to the time you first call the routine.
