I am using autocad 2000i, the plotter is HP designjet 220. I am using a customers border, and I am using model space to draw in, but have created part lists and revision box in paper space, everthing is printing in paper space, ie border, (the drawing in model space) but the parts list & revisions are not printing??, when I scale it down and use a A3 printer everthing prints ok.

Any ideas?
Thanks

Are you printing by layout, limits, window?

Is it possible that the parts list and revision box are outside the plotting limits?

I am plotting using extents, if I plot using a window and selecting just the parts list, the plot preview looks ok, but nothing is plotted.
I have since used a different plotter and it plots ok. So I am just assuming that it is our HP plotter?? but it seems strange.
One other thing though, like I said it is a customer's border and they set it up, but I put my company logo on the border and in paper space and that plots ok, so I put the parts list on the same layer etc... but no plot.

Thanks anyway
Terry

Is this parts lists made up of AutoCAD entities, or is it an OLE object?

I've had a similiar problem with blank plots.
If you're using Xrefs do an Audit, save, reload on the xrefs and the sheet.

No xrefs, and the parts list is just made up using cad entries, ie lines & text

I presume it's not a pen assignment issue - ie plotting white on white?

Not a pen problem. Layers & colors are ok

Maybe not enough memory in the plotter?

Can you set your plotter driver to do all of its thinking in the computer.

I think it's usually under the advanced setting for your print device from the plot menu

We've had problems with our HP DesignJet 450C. Things not plotting, a line here, a dimension there.

After having the service guy in a bunch of times, we upgraded the memory from 4mb to 32mb (max) and still it had the same problems.

Eventually we replaced the "mother board" for lack of the proper term. It's worked perfectly ever since.

The service guy said that it's not uncommon for these plotters to need that replaced. It was $150 CDN...much, much cheaper than a new plotter.

Our in house is a 450c(a/e). It on occasion would not print stuff, and by switching it to do all of its thinking in the computer, rather than using the plotter on board memory, fixed all that with no slow downs.

The 450c is discontinued, and ours is starting to die. Spent $150 last month, and $200 last week.

I just think it's time to send it down to FLA to ride out the clock

I tried spooling in both printer and computer....it usually fixed the problem on a short term basis but it would still happen.

Our service company was trying to push a new machine on us...after the service guy left the sales guy would show up. I said "sure, I would love a new plotter...and if you can un-pucker the bean counters upstairs...we can make a deal (and hell would have frozen over  )"

I'm close to getting a new CPU so I'll keep my mouth shut about needing/wanting a new plotter. But since they spent the money to fix it...it should last for a while yet.

I know how that goes.

Some repographics companies are now letting you do the copier machine type deals where you "lease" it, don't own it, and you pay per plot at the end of the month

Thats it :D Using the computer to spool rather than the plotter everything plots, it has slowed the plots up a bit but…who cares. So it must be a memory thing.
Thanks again for help
