I'm looking to purchase a 17" LCD monitor in the near future. Do any of you who use these things have any advice or recommendations you'd like to share?
I've been looking at panels by NEC, Sony and Iiyama - any of you use those makes? Is there a significant difference in quality between analogue and digital panels? How do they compare to your old CRTs? How do you find them for CAD and graphics work?

Cant comment on the 17" but the last place i worked at had a 42" plasma screen and i got the chance to plug it in and give it ago using cad.
UNREAL, but when the company gets around $800 dollars a day rental from it, they were not letting me keep it set up on my desk for long.

I purchased a ”15” Philips LCD monitor last year and was very disappointed with it. The colors are so sharp that my eyes were getting tired very fast. I tried to adjust them but with no luck. They still are too sharp. Beside the monitor size is not the best choice for AutoCAD. If you have kids you can pass them the mistaken purchases.
Soon after that I bought a 17” ACER LCD monitor. I am happy with the colors and resolution and the monitor is cheaper than other brands with the same properties.
But if I would have to buy a LCD monitor today I would definitely go for a 19 size and still a ACER monitor.
I was comparing a Sony *favorit brand/ with the ACER and in the shop I could see no difference except the price.
I hope this would help in your choice but first before buying take a look at some reviews on monitors.
