samifox Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 Hi im using AC 2006 LT. we have the AC 2009 full also in the office. we are usually getting dwg from the architect and drawing upon it the construction plane. perhaps those drawing already visits few computers til they came to me, which is the reason they have tones of layers. i would like to automate the management of those layers as effectively and quickly as possible. by automating i mean: count how many layers there is in this drawing(so i can shout on the architect ) delete all empty layers unhide/unfreeze/unlock/plot all layers i hope it wasn't to much to ask. Thanks Shay Quote
nestly Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 1) The Layer Manager displays all layers (and the count) at the bottom of the Layers Properties Manager 2) The PURGE command deletes all used layers 3) You can easily change the state of all layers in the Layers Property Manager by selecting them all, then checking the appropriate checkbox. As a side note, comprehensive Cad standards demand the use of "tons" of layers, especially for complex drawings with many disciplines, so I'd be careful about barking at the architect. You may also want to check the AutoCAD help files for information on .dws files. Quote
