CiCAD Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 I am needing to place a circle with a Dia of 1.5 tangant to the ellipse marked and the polyline it it adjacent to. How do i do it? Fillet command does not work Trim Edges.dwg Quote
nestly Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Yeah, AutoCAD is a little flakey with ellipses. Try OFFSETting the ellipse and the polyline .75 units, then use that intersection as the center point for your 1.5 Dia circle. TRIM as needed. Quote
Organic Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Good question. Ellipses aren't the easiest thing to work with and what nestly suggested will do the job. Quote
Michaels Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Follow the steps , circle : Right-Click with the mouse after holding down the Shift button and choose Tangent and close the cursor to the Ellipse and make the first point After that enter the dia which is = 1.5 Congratulations . CiCAD Posted February 14, 2011 Author Posted February 14, 2011 Sorry Buddy. That will not work. i can tell you that without even trying it. Quote
CiCAD Posted February 14, 2011 Author Posted February 14, 2011 please see my attached drawing give it a go yourselves Quote
JD Mather Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Why not use geometry constraints rather then osnaps (the only way to absolutely define geometry)? Quote
JD Mather Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Please Explain? On the principle that a picture is worth a thousand words (F1 is useful as well) see attached, these are a little clunky to work with in AutoCAD compared to modern CAD programs - but they do work..... Quote
