I am currently using AutoCAD LT 2002 and would like to modify a drawing (created in unknown format) that contains thick semi-transparent polylines. I can not copy or modify the existing lines without them becoming solid fill. Property painting also fails to work.

If you select the polyline then hit CTRL+1 the properties docker should appear.

If it does go to the bottom and turn on the 'linetype generation' option.

OR

If above fails then try saving as a ver 12 file then reopening it. Or EXPORT it as a dxf then import it, it may then be editable.

Many thanks for the suggestions.

Unfortunately non of the above worked. In fact the relese 12 DXF was very unstable.

I can not even screen the polyline as the objects beneath remain hidden, when plotting.

Any more suggestions would be gratefully apprecaited.

Are you sure that it is a polyline? Click it and press CTRL+1 to bring the properties window on the screen. On the top will appear the typ of the selected entity.
Maybe you will end by activating the osnap to END and redraw the polylines.

Yes this is definately a polyline and it will not match original if created from a new line drawn.

Thanks for the idea though.

The appearance of the semi-transparent polyline was achieved by using the DRAWORDER command, to place the polyline under the required building outline and pipework.

Thanks for the help though!!!
