4thorns Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Hi all. I'm having some trouble with this door. It works fine until I use the flip. Then it goes haywire. I think it has to do with the stretch parameter for the end of the door panel but I can't figure out how to fix it. I am also trying to get a swing arc to work as well. I watched a tutorial on doors but can't seem to make that work either. I've attached the file and if anyone has time to check it out and offer some assistance that'd be great. Thanks Doug Edit: AutoCad 2011 LT Interior Door.dwg Quote
JBullseye74 Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 I can't get it to work either... i thought it may have been the stretch @ end of door so i extended it down so when you flipped it would still cross end of door. My advice..... peel the block back don't make it so complex untill you can get the stretch / flip combination to work. You have good dynamic block management though... and i would class it as advanced... keep up the good work. P.S there is a decent Door dynamic block in the architectural tab in the Tool Palette which use a different approach maybe you could investigate this. Quote
4thorns Posted March 21, 2011 Author Posted March 21, 2011 Hi JB, Thanks for the reply. I haven't had a chance to get back to figuring out this door but will soon. I'll try comparing the one that came with AutoCad with mine to see if it will help me figure it out. I'll post again and let you know how it works out. P.S. Thanks for the compliment. Doug Quote
resullins Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 @4thorns: I'm confused as well. This block has a lot of elements that I can't see having a purpose. What are you trying to make it do? The 4 stretches on the molding that pull left and right... what are they for? Do you really need to make the moldings bigger? I'd start by starting over. I know that sounds terrible... but you have a lot of parameters in there that look extraneous. Quote
qball Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 REmove your Flip state 1 from the Wall Thickness Stretch. Have it Move by Distance Multiplier of 0.5 associated with the Wall Thickness Parameter. That will keep it centered in the Wall Thickness. You may want to do that with the door too. The Lookup and the Door Width stretch are conflicting with each other. The Door itself might need a Stretch action of its own that is Chained to the Door Width. If I have time tomorrow afternoon I may try to work it out. But try as I've suggested and let us know how it goes. Quote
qball Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 try this. and this link for some more instructions: http://www.ellenfinkelstein.com/AutoCAD_tips_dynamic_block_door.html There's an Angle attached to the stretch for the door, but unfortunately the Flip parameter screws it up. I'd recommend getting rid of the flips and just rotating and mirroring the door to suit, but then the Field text rotates too. Interior%20Door[1].dwg Quote
