Scaling in Civil 3d 2011

Hello,

I am new here, so excuse me if this question is too direct. I am surveyor and I have measured profile of sea bottom near beach by boat. To be precise I have measured it with Stratabox. I have picture in jpg format and turned it into block into Civil 3d. So i have to scale it and i don't know how. On y axis i have scale to compare scaling with, and on x axis i have coordinates to calculate real distance and then scale it. Only thing i don't know is command and process of scaling. Scaling woul be different on x and y axis.

I would appreciate if someone could help me with this issue. thank you.

My IT department blocked me from viewing your JPG but I believe I understand what you are asking.

A lot of times, I scan construction drawing to a raster image and then use the ALIGN command to get it on datum/scale. It’s not perfect but close enough for something like LOD stakeout.

Since you have made a block of the image, you can now insert that at a 1,1 scaling for the x and y axes. Now find the required scaling in the x and y directions by comparing the actual lengths with the given lengths. Now you can alter the x and y scaling in the properties dialogue box

Thank you for your suggestion. Unfortunately it hasn't solved my problem. I remember in AutoCad i had jpg with scale on it. Scale had values 0,5,10,15,20 m, so i drew a line between values 5 and 10, and entered scale 5 and picture streched so scale was representative in cad. I don't know how to do this in Civil3d. I'm not very familiar with Civil3d. I have tryed everything.

I thought that Civil 3D was AutoCAD with a few extra bits and pieces. So AutoCAD commands should work. Perhaps someone who uses Civil 3D will give you a few words of encouragement.

Perhaps your jpeg image is still a raster image rather than a block, but you did state that it was a block.

It's block. I know it's a bit simple problem. I'll keep trying.

If you know the horizontal/vertical ratio, your best bet may be to resize the jpeg with an image editor so that the ratio becomes 1 to 1. AutoCAD only scales images on both axes, that is, you can't scale X and Y differently.

Soved. Turned jpg to block. Then in properties scaled each axis separately. There is an option. Thank you.
