gmatei Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 I need to design a site location plan and i just don't know where to start. The scale needs to be 1:2500, and will have to be printed on A2 paper. the problem is the actual starting of the drawing. Do I have to set up the model to scale(if yes, how would i do that), or just draw it and than when i plot the port will adjust it to scale? Thank you in advance George Quote
ReMark Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 Draw your site plan in model space at FULL size. Do not scale it as you might if you were drawing it on a piece of paper on a drafting board. If the site is 500 meters x 400 meters that's how large you draw it. AutoCAD can handle it no problem. When you are done then it's time to switch to a paper space layout where you will place your title block and border. It is also where you will create a viewport. A viewport is just a window that allows you to see back into model space and view the objects you just drew. It is this viewport that a scale will be assigned to based upon the sheet size you will be printing to. To set up your sheet use the Page Setup Manager. Viewports should be on their own layer and set not to print. Viewports should also be "display locked" so their scale cannot be inadvertently changed. Any dimensions or text associated with your model space objects can either be placed in model space (using annotative scaling) or in your paper space layout. It is up to you and your company's preferred method of handling dimensions and text. Quote
