I work with Architects who change the background layouts. I need help with importing the new background to my existing drawing.

I think you are wanting to learn about _EXTERNALREFERENCES or _XATTACH or Insert>DWG References. Also known as XREFs. TRy reading through AutoCAD help and searching. Come back if you have more questions.
