meecpc Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 I have an equipment layout that needs to be done in centimeters. Can anyone tell me how to set Acad 2006 to work in metric units? I need to offset and dimension in centimeters then convert back to imperial uits. Thanks Quote
designerstuart Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 format - drawing setup - units (i think - sure it's in format though!) also - you might be interested in dimensions that show both sets of unit dims - metric and imperial in one dimension! if so have a look at 'alternative units' for dims. meecpc Posted April 19, 2011 Author Posted April 19, 2011 That only gives me the option for "arch/decimal...etc" Even if I set the units to centimeter it still only offsets in inches Quote
ReMark Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 It sounds as though you are using a template dimensioned in Imperial units. Quote
designerstuart Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 oh sorry maybe you need to change the dimstyle? Quote
ReMark Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 Since the layout needs to be done in metric units have you given any thought to using a metric template? Quote
meecpc Posted April 19, 2011 Author Posted April 19, 2011 basically I have an architectural background ceated by someone else in imperial units. I need to locate duct drops based on metric measurements I got from the equipment supplier. Once I locate all the drops I want to dimension it in imperial units. Quote
ReMark Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 It sounds as though you are more comfortable working in Imperial units. You can use an online conversion utility to convert between centimeters and inches. Like this one. http://www.metric-conversions.org/length/centimeters-to-inches.htm Quote
SLW210 Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 1cm = .3937" 1" = 2.54cm Use the calculator and Copy&Paste or Right-click>QuickCalc while in a command and, if available in your version, you can send the result to the command line and hit enter. Quote
