sthsajan Posted April 24, 2011 Author Posted April 24, 2011 how to draw cross section pls send me example and sample file in csv and in text file Quote
Organic Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 Field book? As in a survey field book? Would be just easier to either use the data capture on your instrument or to manually enter your points (if there are few). Quote
Organic Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 You don't need a csv or text file to draw a cross section. You can draw them simply using AutoCad. Do you have Civil 3D or do you only have AutoCad as your profile says? If you have a textfile/csv of cross sections exported from some program, then upload that here as every program will output data slightly differently. Quote
BIGAL Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 CSV Comma seperated variable is exactly that for CIV3d PointNo,X,Y,Z,Description your request is done. Quote

sthsajan Posted April 25, 2011 Author Posted April 25, 2011 do u have sample csv file so that i can practice i dont have the format pls send me one sample survey point format in csv format Quote
Organic Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Do you have AutoCad or do you have Civil 3D? Importing points from a file is easy with Civil 3D (still possible with AutoCad) althoguh it won't plot a cross section automatically for you. YouTube has a lot of good videos on learning AutoCad and Civil 3D that you might be itnerested in. Quote
ReMark Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 You could use the lisp routine ImportXYZ written by Jeffery Sanders to bring your csv file data into AutoCAD 2007. Find it here: http://www.jefferypsanders.com/autolisp_IMPORTXYZ.html Quote

BIGAL Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Its a bit hard to teach you via the forum have you read the tutorials or looked at the help ? Theres lot of stuff around a good source now is Utube with videos available. The forum is more about help once you get stuck or about creating the output the way you want it to look. basicly 1 create a surface 2 create an alignment 3 walk down alignment corridor 4 design road vertical and attach road shape 5 create long section 6 create cross sections 7 put plan long and cross together and plot. Quote
BIGAL Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 See your other post sthsjan, but if you only want a cross section only then it can be done from excell a cross section is broken down into 3 items chainage of cross section, offset and level of a point. I am not going to elaborate on how to do it but will give you the answer that you use excell to create a script that draws the cross section think of manual drafting yes I am that old. Quote
BIGAL Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Moderator 3rd post same subject should they be all in one ? Quote
SLW210 Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Lets just create 1 post for each topic from now on sthsajan. Seems to me you need to invest a little time taking some courses. There are plenty of distance learning classes online, check Autodesk site. There are plenty of tutorials at CADTutor Quote
