detailershub Posted April 27, 2011 Author Posted April 27, 2011 yes faisal am using plain autocad Thanks Quote
designerstuart Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 do you have contours already drawn and want to put them at the right heights? or do you have a 3d terrain which you need to 'extract' contours from? more information on what you are trying to do will help us give you a good answer, because otherwise the best answer you will get is "yes"! Organic Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 I would say no personally. If you want to make contours and surfaces, look into AutoCad Civil 3D or any other civil design or survey package. Quote
ReMark Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Look into the freeware program called DTM at the CADforum. Free Digital Terrain Model application for AutoCAD - TIN, volume, elevations, flowlines, meshes (VLX for AutoCAD and Map 3D). Quote
designerstuart Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 haha did that help?! you ask a question and you get the answers "yes" and "no" and "use another software"..... i wouldn't leave it at that! (but it's nice of you to come back and say thanks, though) Quote
yekom Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 No. I'd say you should go for a more precise software such as Carlson Survey or ACAD Civil 3D. Quote
ReMark Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Most people asking about this type of software are looking for a one-time-use application and not the long term committment a full-fledged program like Carlson Survey or AutoCAD Ciil 3D require. Quote
yekom Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Noted. I didn't base my answer thinking of the TC's end use, I merely opted to provide info on good dedicated softwares for creating contours I know. Although Carlson Survey is a 'full-fledged' software, it is surprinsingly easy to create contours in it, just like a one-time use application (not a freebie, unfortunately). Quote
ReMark Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Many people look for the "freebie" first. It's human nature. Quote
rkmcswain Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Another option: http://www.dotsoft.com/mapworks.htm Quote
Organic Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Another option:http://www.dotsoft.com/mapworks.htm Not exactly cheap though still. Quote
rkmcswain Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 Not exactly cheap though still. I guess it depends on your point of reference. ±$400 for base and surfaces is very competitive when you compare to Carlson, Civil 3D, etc. Quote
