Area Selection Effect not working correctly...

Let me first off by saying this just randomly happened one day and I have no clue on whats going on. I'm also using Autocad MEP 2010.

In Model Space when I click and drag (area selection) I should get a transparent colored window (in relation to what you have selected your color and opacity to be in the options.) HOWEVER I am not getting that window. When I click down and begin to drag my cursor disappears and then reappears when I let go of the window. This of course makes it impossible to make an accurate window selection when you can't see a window being created. This problem also only occurs in Model Space, in Paper Space the transparent colored select window appears... it also appears in a viewport in Paper Space!

In the Visual Effects Settings I changed the colors, opacity, toggled the 'Indicate Selection Area' on and off (when off I atleast get border of the selection window, which I have been working on but I ma the type of person that wants to know WHY I am not getting my color and transparency!!!) and I get NOTHING!!!!

I hope someone has an answer for me. Thanks in advance!

Almost seems like a graphics problem.

all files...

a graphic problem huh? Can that just all the sudden happen? Do you know what could cause that? haha sorry lots of questions... I did see that on the internet somewhere someone mention the graphics and I just dont understand how that can just happen.

Anything can break.

But since you are saying it works in Paper Space and works in Model Space through a Paper Space viewport pretty sure any variables I can think of are not the culprit.

I could be a glitch in AutoCAD, as a last resort you could try a Repair and then a complete Uninstall/Reinstall, but I would contact the reseller or Autodesk directly first.

Also perhaps PickAuto? or a combination of the two.

I believe you probably set your Modelspace crosshairs the same color as your background, and SELECTIONAREA=1

As you discovered, you can work around this by turning off the colored selection area shading, but in order to use the colored selection area shading, you'll have to set your crosshairs to a color that's different than the background.

I cannot duplicate the problem, AutoCAD changes my crosshair color to be visible no matter the background color/crosshair color the same, when selecting with window and selectionarea=1 the crosshairs always disappear until finished with the selection area.
